I got an idea. For Heavy in Your Arms. What if I used a huge blue tube scarf in the choreography? I was wearing one today and I started wondering whether it might be right for the routine. The material of the scarf is fairly delicate, and elastic, so I just keep getting this image in my head of that fabric pulled across a face - the audience being able to see through the scarf, see the shapes. Strong hands trying to come though the fabric. Now that's pain. It just might be perfect.
It isn't usual, but unusual and weird doesn't mean bad. It can mean ugly. It can mean distressing and agonizing. Luckily that's just what I want.
That fabric pressed against a face - well, my face - creates an illusion. To me it symbolizes not being able to breath, not having enough oxygen. And it's simple. Simplicity goes well with the whole production.
I won't choreograph the scarf in for the entire routine. And besides, I already have started the choreography. I will add it in in the middle, towards the end, as a crescendo I suppose. I'm really starting to like this idea.
